Searching for traps is an Intelligence check for all classes. In addition to the bonuses Thieves and Elves get, Dwarves also receive a +2 bonus per level to find stonework traps and secret doors.

Normal search: 1 round per 1 object or 400 sf. See chart for movement speeds.
Careful search: 10 rounds for non-Thief / 1d4+1 rounds for Thief per 1 object or 400 sf. See chart for movement speeds.

When searching normally:
• Secret doors. Base DC 18 Intelligence Check to spot. Does not necessarily include finding the opening mechanism.
• Covered pits. Base DC 18 Intelligence Check to spot. Leaning weight on a 10’ pole grants standard chance (3 in 6) of opening 1d3 feet away.
• Tripwires. Base DC 18 Intelligence Check to spot. Probing with a 10’ pole always discovers by resistance, but DC 14 Reflex Save or the tripwire is triggered 1d5 feet away.
• Base DC 18 Intelligence check for other traps.

When searching carefully:
Grants +1d to the above.

At 30’ base movement, strolling through the dungeon is 1200’/turn, searching 10’ wide corridor is 600’/turn, searching 10’ wide corridor carefully is 60’/turn, and a thief searching carefully is 180’/turn.
